Buckhurst Hill

u3a

Our Groups Coordinator is Fiona Lucas, you can send her a message via this link: Group enquiries

Buckhurst Hill currently has thirty three active Interest Groups which are run by members or in conjunction with other local u3as. Each group is self-supporting. Members share their knowledge, experience and skills with each other and share responsibility for making the group work. To join an interest group, you need to become a member of Buckhurst Hill u3a. You can join as many interest groups as you like, depending of course, on availability within individual groups.

Groups range in size and generally meet in members' own homes or in a Hall, depending on the size of the group and the activity. If charges are incurred for Hall Hire, resources or refreshments, group members share the cost. The date, time, duration and frequency of meetings varies from group to group.

Group Leaders

Group Leaders take the lead role in an interest group. We are very grateful to our Group Leaders who freely give of their time, knowledge and skills. No qualifications are required to lead a group, although some experience is an advantage but certainly not essential. Enthusiasm is the main thing! As our Membership numbers grow, and our groups thrive, we are continually looking for more Group Leaders to start new groups: if you have an interest, expertise or skills that you could pass onto others, we would welcome your services and we will give you support to form a group. Fiona, the Interest Groups Coordinator would be delighted to hear from you.
